i think the "scariest" book i read was house of leaves... (both the page count and page content was Daunting . its a very long book...)

i like watching vtubers play games like FNAF though just to see their reactions

Yeah, I don't always play horror games myself, but watching streams or playthroughs of it takes the horror down enough so that I can actually experience it. I think it helps to go through it with commentary because then it doesn't feel so alone. And the reactions always help (especially when they're funny) lmao

Silent Hill f is very good, imo. I'm about half-way through my third run right now. If you're a fan of Ryukishi07, you'll probably like this game too because he wrote it. :3

The first Outlast and its Whistleblower DLC will always be what comes to mind for me. Just genuinely a scary game and once you dive deeper into the lore through the documents found in game and the comic it gets all the more interesting.

Ooh I haven't played this one, I'll have to give it a shot! I really, really love horror that's supplemented by lore... if that makes sense... like I dunno, in a video game it's kinda fun that you unravel more and more pieces of a puzzle over time, it makes it all the more chilling!

I read tons of mystery novels so I definitely need to read more horror, too! I can sometimes be a scaredy cat with visual horror, but I really love written horror because it lets me imagine things at my own pace... and what my mind can come up with is sometimes scarier than seeing it on screen lmaooo

My go to is still always Silent Hill. Its everyones go for for horror games usually, I know, but you can't quit a classic.
Horror books though (will NOT be colors applicable, and is very much 18+).. A big agreegious but I read recently Playground and Playground: Child of Divorce. Its more uh torture gore more than anything (laddled with weird/uncomfortable scenes at time, specifically with the villian character and their relationship with other villian characters.) But, im a sucker for survival torture/saw trap type storys, so those have been fun.
For a better book tho: Blood Meridian. Now, this book doesnt have the classification of "horror", but its is a horror story 100% I love american western novels, and this one hit that perfect beautiful itch that rarely gets scratched. A gritty and just uncomfortable 'epic' that your curious to see where it goes, and sometimes the answer isnt what you want. Its a very gray in moral and in its characters, yet you still are interested to see if they continue on as the world feels against them. (Tho no movie yet for this film, I do believe one is being worked on. Great book, but its kind of that "no one thinks its adaptable", so id still recc reading vs watching first. Though a similar vibe (tho not similar story), in movie form would probably be Bone Tomahawk(2015), which itself is labled a horror.)

I actually haven't played Silent Hill, but the new one that came out recently is on my radar!! I've been wanting to jump into the series, I've just never gotten around to it... as for the others, I'm definitely interested for sure :eyes: I love gray morals and I need something good to read, so thank you for the recommendations!!

I don't do much horror but I've been reading some more horror-adjacent books/graphic novels lately, this year I've enjoyed Don't Let the Forest In (C.G. Drews), But Not Too Bold (Hache Pueyo), Hello Sunshine (Keezy Young), and The Glass Scientists (S.H. Cotugno) which is not horror at all but is a fun mishmash of gothic lit characters like Jekyll and Hyde, Frankenstein, etc.

Oooh this seems perfect for me... I don't usually enjoy straight up horror since I can get spooked pretty easily, so something adjacent or more thriller-based is perfect! And I love new fun takes on old monster lore so much!
